The short version
- Nueve Noches does not collect any personal data.
- There are no accounts, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs of any kind.
- There is no advertising and no tracking, on the device or across other apps and websites.
- Everything you enter — households, rosters, readers, dishes, notes, photos, preferences — stays on your device.
- Apple's privacy nutrition label for this app reads Data Not Collected.
What data we collect
None. Nueve Noches has no server, no backend, and no account system. We — the people who make the app — have no way to see your roster, your household names, your notes, or your photos, because none of it is ever sent to us or to anyone else. The app does not use any analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising frameworks, and it makes no network requests to collect information about you or your device.
Where your data lives
All content you create in Nueve Noches — household lists, the nine-night roster, reader and dish assignments, notes, bookmarks in the reading library, and app preferences — is stored locally on your device only, using Apple's Core Data framework for structured records and UserDefaults for settings. None of this is transmitted anywhere, synced to a server, or backed up to any service operated by us. (Your device's own iCloud or local backup settings, which are entirely under your control and Apple's, are unaffected by this policy and are not something we have access to.)
Camera and photo library
Nueve Noches asks for camera and photo library access only to let you attach a photo of the host's pesebre for a given night, or a family photo for a household — and only at the moment you choose to add one. Access is requested in context, never in advance. Photos you add are stored on your device alongside the rest of your roster data and are never uploaded, shared, or transmitted off the device under any circumstance. If the camera is unavailable or access is declined, the app offers the system photo picker instead.
Notifications
Reminder notifications — before each night, for Velitas on December 7th, and a mid-November nudge if a night still has no host — are scheduled entirely on your device using Apple's local notification system. They are never routed through a push notification server, and no information about your roster or schedule leaves your device to generate them. Notifications are requested in context and can be turned off at any time in the app's Settings or in the iOS Settings app.
In-app browser
The "Sobre la novena" section opens a small, fixed set of informational pages about Colombian Christmas traditions inside the app, using WKWebView. This browser only loads the specific links the app provides — it does not browse the open web, and it does not pass any app data (your roster, households, photos, or settings) to the pages it displays. Any browsing you do within that view is subject to the privacy practices of the page you're visiting, not this app.
Children's privacy
Nueve Noches does not collect data from anyone, including children. Because the app has no accounts, no analytics, and no network transmission of any kind, this holds true regardless of who is using the app — a child helping fill in the roster, or an adult organiser. There is nothing for us to collect from a child user that we do not also decline to collect from an adult one.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds a feature that touches data handling — we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Since the app has no account system and no way to contact users directly, we won't be able to notify you individually; checking this page periodically, especially after updating the app, is the best way to stay current.
Questions about this policy
We don't list an email address on this page. If you have a question about this policy or about how the app handles something, the best ways to reach us are:
